Students at Jose H. Damian Elementary are starting off their school year by coordinating Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and are asking for the Canutillo community’s help. JDE has adopted a “Pay It Forward” campus theme this school year, and will be collecting donations of food, water and toiletries August 30 through September 1 to assist families, kids and pets who have been affected by the flooding in Southeast Texas. Here’s how you can help:


Wednesday, August 30, 2017: Water & Food Drive
• Cases (12-24 packs) of water in unopened plastic bottles.
• Unopened canned foods high in protein and calories with long shelf lives.
o Canned meats
o Canned vegetables
o Peanut butter
o Soups (not low calorie/diet)
o Bags of dry, uncooked rice
o Bags of dry, uncooked beans

Thursday, August 31, 2017: Diaper/Blanket Drive
• Unopened bags/packs of diapers (various brands/sizes).
• Unopened bags/packs of baby wipes.
• New and/or clean blankets (various sizes)

Friday, September 1, 2017: Pet food and Toiletries Drive
• Unopened bags of dry cat and/or dog food
• New toothbrushes and/or toothpaste.

All donations may be dropped off in the JDE front foyer from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please call (915) 877-6801.
